Tomorrow morning Greg and I are off to Boise, ID for a new 70.3-series race. (That's a 1/2 Ironman, or 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile ride, and 13.1-mile run.)
You might think, what's an extra .1 or .2 mile, after you've gone that far? Well, I swear you can feel it! One year at USAT short-course Nationals, the 6.2-mile course was actually 7 miles. - But no-one knew this in advacne. After mile 6, you think you're done, but that darned course just kept going and going! Discomfort really has a way of stretching out the clock.
...This is sort of a "base race" for me, as I can't say I've been training 100% consistently, with a career change and psoriasis challenges also in progress. It's still exciting, though!

In unrelated topics, am I the only one who didn't know about Koko the gorilla, and her kitty-friend she named "All Ball" by using sign language? So sadly, Koko lost All Ball. Warning: I doubt it's possible to watch this video without crying.
