Triathlon

I started training in 2000 with summer-team swimming background and athletic drive, but not much else. Little did I realize the addictive power of triathlon!

The training process fascinates; it's like working on a complex, mechanical puzzle, interspersed with meditation in motion.

The half Ironman has become my favorite challenge. The day I've "mastered" it is the day I might as well quit...

Core strength

...changed my athletic life. A visit to Athletes' Performance in 2004 kicked off the process. Instruction from Jessi Stensland has boosted my learning along the way.

See my Athletes' Performance testimonial.
(Click Endurance Programs, and then look under Endurance Training.)

As of fall 2008, I'm certified as a personal trainer, by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). I'm working on further certification, but I'm already enjoying working with private clients.

More on Challenges

Psoriasis is an unsolved puzzle, a true test of sanity and patience. (--Not sure if I've passed...)

Contrary to popular belief, psoriasis is not a skin condition, though that's where the symptoms appear. It's a genetic dysfunction of a specific type of T-cell. The biggest challenge is its paradoxical effect on the immune system. As with many conditions, exercise, sleep and nutrition are key. My philosophy is...life is short; do something you enjoy if you're able.

My biggest wish is for future generations to be free of this conundrum!
